Sunday Stomach Syndrome?

stressed woman

Ever since I was a little girl, weekends have always somehow felt shorter than the actual time they are comprised of – Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday.

For me, after enjoying a wind down Friday evening followed by a fun-filled, activity-packed Saturday, almost like clockwork, the dreaded Sunday Stomach Syndrome would start to kick in.

I literally would lose a full weekend day ruminating about what transpired the previous week, worrying about the upcoming week and essentially missing out on the present moment each Sunday promised.

I had hoped once I completed my school-age years that I might grow out of my Sunday Stomach feelings, only to find I replaced the back-to-school stress, anxiety, and worry with similar work-related symptoms, and so the cycle continued.

Can you relate?

So today, as kids make their way back to school, parents come off extended summer vacations, and life transitions become a reality for many, how can you ensure Sunday Stomach Syndrome isn’t robbing you -  or those you love - of the moments you are meant to create, share and live?

Time is one commodity we can’t replace, refund, or relive.  Once you’ve spent, savored or squandered it, you cannot get it back.

No longer forfeit your precious Sunday time to that which you cannot control.  Pledge this fall to live out your entire weekend time and learn to embrace each Monday with renewed optimism, a healthier mindset and more powerful mantras to fuel you forward.

How might you settle Sunday Stomach Syndrome for yourself or perhaps someone you love? How might you use your weekends to set you up for success in the week to come? When will Sunday become your Funday?
