What season of life are you living?

Summer Seashore

As we kick-off this last “unofficial” week of summer and Labor Day looms, I often find myself a bit melancholy – yearning for more time to enjoy the last bit of carefree summertime sun, fun, and leisure.  Can you relate?

The interesting thing is, with every season’s end, I am as equally sad to say goodbye to what was, as I am excited about what will be.

It’s a lot like leaving the comfort, knowing and predictability of a current job or longstanding career to choose the unease, uncertainty, and ambiguity of stepping into something new.

While change almost always comes with tradeoffs, it also brings new experiences and opportunities for growth we might otherwise miss - leaving behind summer’s warmer weather to embrace fall’s spectacular foliage displays; winter’s new fallen snow; and spring’s colorful first blooms.

As each season of your life and career shifts, changes and evolves, it’s natural to mourn what was, the who you were, the rhythm of your life as you knew it.

Embracing new, unchartered paths of what might be, leaning into and trusting the who you are becoming, and being open to how you live the next chapter of your life, can be as vibrant as nature’s seasonal shifts.

What if life was stagnant, stuck in a continuous state of status quo? How quickly would you tire of the same old, same old? How uninspired would you be?

Before the sun sets on this summer, what will you do to invite change into your life and career this fall? What will you have the courage to pursue; curiosity to explore; faith to take the leap? How will change color your world experience in the next season of the life you are living?
